Hello again faithful blog viewer(s). Welcome to a brand new one. Yes, this time I have come to you in Vlog form rather than Blog form. For those of you who don't speak-o the internet lingo, a Vlog is, in fact, a video-blog. Isn't that handy? And a blog is...self-indulgent? I'm not sure exactly.
Anyway you may be wondering about all these videos (No, they're not just pictures of videos. Go ahead and click on one with your mouse-like object, just wait for the magic). Well I made them. How? Well with a camera of course. Silly question.
Why? Well because I like walks and I like art. But of course I had some idea of what I was doing other than that before I walked out the door and into that great wide open space of Milwaukee.
I decided to adopt three "image capturing strategies" for this walk. I would take pictures of abandoned objects, water, and I would take a picture of any circular object I came across from a birds-eye view. It was surprising how much the first two of those strategies showed up in the same pictures/videos.
But how did I decide where to walk? Glad you asked. I went No Country For Old Men style and did everything based on a coin toss. Heads I go right, Tails I go left. I did this at every intersection. Got it? Good.
I hope there's some enjoyment in these videos I have for you here. There are eight in all: three of them I consider finished products. The five others I was kind of just screwing around, which is part of what most artists call their "creative process." I thought they might be interesting to look at as well.

We Didn't Know It Was Panoramic
When I set out on this walk it was a beautiful sunny day out, and I had no idea what to expect. It would be a nice walk, but I also had "work" to do if you will. I know some of you think it's ridiculous to say going out on a walk on a nice day in order to make movies (which I love doing) is work. Just humor me though, if I consider things I love work then when I have to work on something I hate it doesn't seem as bad.
I'd just bought myself a new album called "Lightness" by Peter and The Wolf, which I listened to over and over as I drained through several sets of batteries for my camera.
This walk became something more for me however. It became about seeing things anew. Perhaps more clearly, maybe just differently. Either way it was wonderful.
So when bringing together these videos I decided that at the top of the page I wanted a complete representation of everything I saw overall. A panoramic view, views from the ground, looking up, looking down, and all around. You can interpret the last shot however you want. I know what it means to me, and if you think for a second that I'll tell you, well brother, you don't know me.
Buried (Caution)
The sun was high and beating down on my head and hands. But I was like a duck in water; it just slipped right off of me. If I was cold I did not know; this is a trick of Milwaukee, even the brightest days can be chilled. But when I looked through my viewfinder and pressed record I could see the world winking at me. Perhaps you know what I mean.
Circle Takes The Square
For those of you wondering, "What am I looking at here?" Well. That's the inside of a traffic cone. And most of the rest of those things are circles. Or used to be.
For those of you wondering "Was that a toothbrush and then two sticks in the formation of a cross?"
Yes. It was. And no. I did not put the sticks like that. I found them right there, just like that.
For those of you wondering "What was that pink blur?" Well if you go back and look at the rough cut I based this off of you can see more clearly. It is a post-it. In the snow. Outside of a pre-school. That says "Jesus" on it. It was weird to find, especially after I already found the random sticks shaped like a crucifix.
For those of you now wondering "wait, what does that toothbrush have to do with anything?" Well there was kind of a straight up and down line thing going on at the end, and if that's not a good enough explanation for you maybe you should consider that cleanliness is next to Godliness.
